Stretch, Push, Twist & Turn
Stretch, push, twist and turn with us at Destino Ibiza! Malu will show you how to flow in the Hot Detox class at our Yoga Centre. Hot Detox is a marvelous dynamic flowing sequence of almost continuous movement.
Some of you might be put off by the ‘hot’ part of it but we can certainly say the heat makes it all easier by relaxing your muscles and will allow you to move your body freely. Pushing yourself outside your comfort zone is always a great idea. It feels so good!
You are about to discover how amazing your body is and will feel how it is working optimally during this class. We are focusing on detoxifying and toning as we massage our organs and glands with the postures. Malu is always available for any doubts you may have so feel free to ask!
Stop thinking, be in the moment and breathe. This is such a wonderful way to treat your mind to some time off. You will feel euphoric after these twists. Stretch on… and then rehydrate, replenish and enjoy…Hot Detox
The Yoga Teacher
Fernando is an experienced teacher who has been practicing yoga since 1998. A native of Ibiza, where he lived until he was 23 years old, with roots in Argentina, Greece and The Philippines, graduated with a degree in East Asian Studies from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. It was then and there that the journey begun, Yoga and Eastern Philosophy would become part of his life. Those interests were consolidated by a 5 year stay in Japan, where he specialized in Zen Buddhism and was trained in Zazen meditation in various monasteries in Kyoto. Fernando has been fortunate enough to study yoga with several teachers in the US, Japan, Thailand, Spain, Finland, Italy and India, where he completed his teacher training.
His practice over the years has diversified to include different styles: Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Yin and Power yoga. Fernando´s special interest has been in the anatomy of yoga, having extremely wide knowledge on how to practice yoga safely, making sure it’s the right pose for our own and unique body type, adapting to individual needs offering variations within the group so that beginners and advanced students alike can take the same class. Fernando is able to challenge the students and test their limits while creating an ambience that is relaxed and friendly. The Yoga Teacher
1 I’ve never practiced yoga before, what class do you suggest?
I suggest you think of yoga as a physical activity that, like any other, has potential risks and benefits, and approach it as such. Any class would be ok as long as you are aware of your limits, in any case our teachers can adapt to your needs and will give you tips for the class you choose.
2 Advice for beginners?
My number one advice for beginners would be to take it easy, to try not to do absolutely every pose in a class or to hold it as long as a more experienced student. Not to get philosophical, but less really is more. In most cases when we are beginners we will be working muscles we are not used to work, or that we havent used in a while. so it is normal to feel a bit sore afterwards, we have to learn the difference between challenging ourselves (good), and straining (not so good...), and that is not always as easy as it should be.
3 What are the benefits of Hot Yoga?
Hot yoga has the same benefits as other types of yoga, increased flexibility and stamina, improved circulation, posture, and balance, and lower stress levels. In addition, because we can go deeper into poses due of the intense heat, the level of awareness required to not surpass our limitis needs to be higher than in other classes, therefore there´s a maximum mental benefit, our focus will vastly improve. (about the flushing out of toxins..toxins are eliminated, for the most part, through our kidneys and liver, and some from the colon...you do get rid of some toxins sweating so much, but not really as advertised everywhere... mostly you will lose water, ammonia, urea, potassium and sodium through sweat, up to you guys how you want to tackle that one)
4 How would you spend a day off at Destino?
5 What do you love most about Yoga?
What I love most about yoga is how strong it makes you feel from the inside out, from your immune system on the inside to your muscles.outside.Especially when combined with a balanced diet.
6 What are the greatest benefits of practicing yoga?
The greatest benefits would undoubtedly have to be those related with stretching, bending, toning and strengthening your spinal column because you are only as healthy as your spine. A happy and straight back will unquestionably improve your quality of life.
7 I would like an intense class that will make me sweat, which one do you suggest?
9 I am in Ibiza on holiday, can I come to just one class?
Of course you can! One is infinetely better than none!
A powerful and energetic blend of fast paced, physically demanding poses derived from Ashtanga Yoga. Experience an intense workout, accessible to athletes of all levels.Power Yoga
Originated from the teachings of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, it combines three classical yoga styles: Ashtanga, Iyengar and Viniyoga. Vinyasa Yoga synchronizes dynamic movements with special conscious breathing techniques, svadhyaha and self-reflection. This method connects mind and body creating a space for our natural potential and hear to blossom. Vinyasa Yoga is like a moving meditation lead by our breath.
